A new year.....a new job. As of January 1, 2008, I am the new Director of the Frankfort Community Public Library and Clinton County Contractual Public Library. Many library patrons and community members know that I served as the library's Assistant Director since 2003. I can't tell you how excited I am to move into this leadership role. Frankfort has been a wonderful community to work in, and the dedicated staff at the library make it a joy to come to work each day. I plan to use this blog, among other methods, as a way of informing the community of library activities and also to get feedback and input from you. I really do want to know what you think about the library, and how we can make your use of the library even better.
2008 has many things in store for the library. The Frankfort Library will be getting a new roof and Hinshaw Roofing has been awarded the contract. We will also be getting new carpeting on the first and second floors. The new Michigan Road Community Library, just south of Michigantown will open in late June. The Frankfort Library will also mark the 100th anniversary of the opening of the Carnegie Library on February 14th, and there will be events throughout the year. Downloadable audio books will debut this year, and will be available from our library catalog. The Rossville Library will unveil a self-checkout station that patrons can use to check out their own materials. There are so many events and activities planned throughout this year to look forward to. Look for information on these upcoming activities in the director's blog, Library Lines and Footnotes.
I look forward to working with the community to continue to provide excellent library services in Frankfort and Clinton County. Please contact me with your suggestions and ideas!
